Dubai, June 14: The seven Emirates – Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Sharjah, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain – is likely to sight Eid al Fitr moon today. As the International Astronomical Centre had predicted the moon of Eid al Fitr will be sighted today in the Middle East, especially in UAE and Saudi Arabia. The holy month of Ramadan ends with a celebration of Eid al Fitr, which is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal (Islamic month). In UAE along with other parts of the Middle East and the Gulf, Ramadan started from May 17. Today, Muslims in UAE will complete their 29 fasts. If the crescent is not sighted today, Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday officially.

The government in UAE had also tasked the Sharia Council to deploy their personnel in all parts of the nation to spot the crescent moon.
The Ministry of Justice headed by Sultan Bin Saeed Al Badi had also formed a committee which will issue an official statement on moon sighting after evening prayers.
According to several reports, the IAC believes that the crescent moon will be sighted in Abu Dhabi, along with Doha, Damascus, Manama, Beirut, within 35 minutes of the sunset.
